Imagine a new gold mine in a fairly remote part of Ontario. Two University of Toronto professors did just that, but went further and studied the benefits that a single “representative” mine could offer. In doing so Peter Dungan and Steve Murphy produced a comprehensive report released October 21 by the Ontario Mining Association. An Au-thentic Opportunity: The Economic Impacts of a New Gold Mine in Ontario is available to the public but directed more specifically at government decision-makers. Summarized in the infographic below are some of its key findings.
