With initial soil geochemical results and geological mapping, Equitas Resources TSXV:EQT now has seven targets at its early-stage Nahmint copper-gold project on Vancouver Island. The company announced results on December 3 from a field program that began promptly on acquiring the 9,552-hectare property in mid-October.
Work has so far focused on the Three Jays area, near one of the property’s five past-producing mines, where three exposed targets had already been identified. The autumn program adds four additional, non-outcropping targets after evaluating six stream moss mat samples, 303 soil samples and 35 rock samples. The targets showed elevated or highly elevated values of copper, gold or both, along with other polymetallic results.
Follow-up plans for the new year include construction of exploration trails, mechanized trenching and, for the first time ever at Nahmint, diamond drilling. Other geophysical targets identified by a 2012 aeromagnetic survey will also undergo soil sampling and mapping, the company stated. A 43-101 technical report is pending.
