Gold Canyon Resources Inc TSXV:GCU announced results from the Portage Zone of its Springpole Gold Project in the Red Lake Mining District, Ontario. Assays include 0.68 g/t gold over 23 metres, 0.9 g/t over 190.5 metres (including 1.13 g/t over 138.5 metres), 1.01 g/t over 31 metres, 1.22 g/t over 95.5 metres (including 1.61 g/t over 22 metres), 0.92 g/t over 262.5 metres (including 27.77 g/t over 1 metre), and 1.21 g/t over 81 metres.
Geologist Quinton Hennigh said, “Given the position of mineralization encountered in hole SP11-036, it appears the Portage Zone has shifted somewhat to the west. We believe movement along east-west oriented post-mineral faults may have displaced the strike continuation of the Portage Zone westward approximately 100 metres. Although hole SP11-036 was terminated in mineralized rock, we are very encouraged that this hole intercepted the Portage Zone and that it now helps us to better understand how to conduct further step-out drilling.”
