Gold Canyon Resources Inc GCU:CA announced assays from its Springpole Gold Project, 110 kilometres northeast of the Red Lake Mining Camp in Ontario. Results include 1.44 g/t gold over 307 metres, 1.45 g/t over 223 metres, 1.48 g/t over 225 metres, 1.53 g/t over 38 metres, 1.17 g/t over 353 metres, 1.75 g/t over 108 metres and 2.3 g/t over 132 metres.
Technical advisor Quinton Hennigh commented, “In 2010, we drilled eighteen holes testing various parts along the strike of the Portage Zone. We now feel more confident about our understanding of this large gold-silver system. For example, we usually see gold and silver values gradually rise, peak, then gradually diminish as we drill across this zone. Seldom do we see values above 10 g/t gold within the porphyry, so the intervals we report are not ‘carried’ by a few high assays. The weighted average grade of Portage Zone intercepts from the eighteen holes drilled in 2010 is 1.36 g/t gold and 5.95 g/t silver, a silver-to-gold ratio of 4.4 : 1. The Portage Zone bifurcates in places, perhaps reflecting late structural displacement. Although we have a lot more work to do, our picture of the Portage Zone is quickly becoming clearer.”
